Concerned Musicians of Local 802 Mission Statement

Concerned Musicians of Local 802 is an organization of Local 802 members united by the following goals:

1) To facilitate communication between the local's rank-and file-membership and its elected leadership; to propose procedures and structures that will enable members to bring their concerns to the attention of their union's leadership.

2) To foster inclusiveness and diversity of membership by advocating expanded organizing activities in historically under-represented fields, such as jazz, hip hop and independent film.

3) To ensure accountability, transparency and integrity on the part of the local's elected leadership.

4) To promote trust and cooperation between Local 802 and other labor unions.

5) To ensure that the views, needs and desires of Local 802's members are accurately and thoroughly represented to employers by the union's negotiating teams.
